The-only-coat-you’ll-ever-need!!!
"Oh boy, this is a hell of a coat!!! This coat is the only WINTER coat you’ll ever need. It is a HEAVY and THICK coat that you can only wear for cold and inclement conditions. The kind of coat you’ll happy to wear for Siberian winters. That thing is really warm and the fit is perfect in M (they run true to size). 3 zipped pockets and 2 flap ones on the front, none in the inside. That HUGE collar is the star of the show and the asymmetrical zipper adds a touch of modernity to it. This is the 29th leather jacket in my wardrobe (I think I love leather), I can’t wait to be in winter to wear it. Beautiful quality as always, the leather is the same used for the Type 440 USN jacket that I own. This is my 3rd Cockpit jacket but not the last for sure. Thank you Cockpit!"

Beautiful!
"So, to begin with, this is an AWESOME coat, filled with really beautiful little details and features. Some of the best points: * The leather is wonderful--thick, supple, and pretty much perfect. * There are two hidden pockets at just below waist level--perfect for your hands. * The big pockets in the front are easily accessed and very deep. Unlike a lot of coats, it doesn't look bulky when you use them! * The collar is delightfully warm and luxurious. * It fits true to size--most of the time, I have to size up on leather jackets, as manufacturers tend to be a bit stingy with material. That is NOT the case here--the coat is very comfy, and is cut for unrestricted movement. * There are button closures under the zipper. I haven't used them yet, but see how they could be useful on windy days. * There is a button closure on the collar. It's a bit tight, but is really handy when it gets cold. * I didn't find it as heavy as some commenters. Then again, my go-to winter outerwear is a full-length wool coat, which is really heavy. If you wear a Gore-tex or down coat, it may take a while to get used to the weight. * Inside the sleeves, there are ribbed cuffs that help keep the cold out. A really nice touch! Some things to think about: * This is not a coat to wear if you want to blend in. It's very dramatic--when my sister saw it, she said I looked like a Bond villain. Given that that's a style I love, I took it as a compliment! * The design is very 1940s, so the belt is higher than I was used to. It hit me about 1. 5 inches above my hip bones--true to the era, but high for a modern fit. * In the photos, the coat is shown with the collar open. In reality, the map pocket in the left lapel makes it almost impossible to fold open. It would have been nice to have a snap, button or hidden magnets for people who like to wear their collars open. * The flap pockets are great, but again, snaps would have been a nice touch. * The upper interior is lined in a synthetic fleece material that isn't as nice as the rest of the coat. I understand the desire for authenticity, but a thinner satin liner would add less bulk and might feel a little more luxurious. * The pockets are lined with a stiff, rough material that feels thin. I'm a little concerned about how they're going to hold up. So, there are some great things and some not-so-great things. Overall, though, this is by far the nicest coat I've ever owned, and is definitely worth the price. Looking forward to wearing it for years!"

What a coat, the warmest in my closet!
"An earlier review said that this looked like a "bad ass" coat, YES, this is a bad ass coat, you could imagine being up in a blimp looking out. This is a VERY warm coat, with the fur collar that stands up to almost the height of your head, the shearling on the inside to cover your torso. Zippers and buttons everywhere to keep it tight, and the goatskin outer shell keep it impervious against the wind. The construction of this heavy coat is nothing less than what you would expect from Cockpit...exceptional. Keep in mind this is a heavy coat, 10 pounds...make sure you are not only "bad ass" but strong enough to wear it!"

An exceptional leather coat
"I was originally drawn to this piece because of its unique, dashing, badass look, and was pleasantly surprised at how comfortable the fit is and how warm it keeps you in the cold months. The folks at Cockpit USA have a great legacy in making leather jackets for the US military and you can be assured of their high quality products. I highly recommend this jacket/coat if you want to stand out and make a statement. You'd be hard pressed to find a piece like this anywhere else."

Rugged, dashing and quality: a keper!
"This coat makes a dramatic statement because of its extraordinary build quality and a ruggedly dashing look that evokes the heroic past. In the short time in which I've worn it, both friends and strangers have stopped me a number of times to ask where I purchased it and whether it was a bespoke item. It's warm, stylish and unique. Enjoy the notice it brings."

A Fine Warm Coat of Beautiful Leather
"I bought mine in New York about twenty-six years ago. On its first outing I pushed a woman’s Lincoln Towncar out of a snowbank, getting covered with dirty slush and mud for my efforts. The coat cleaned up nicely and still looks like new today. It’s warm enough for any conditions in Chicago – probably as warm as any of my shearlng coats. One improvement on the new version looks like a double ended zipper so you can relieve the tension at the bottom when you sit down. Otherwise, my coat looks exactly like the new one except for the USN stencil on the back of the collar. Mine is a size M which corresponds to a normal size 42 and is big enough to accommodate a suit jacket underneath or a heavy vest."
